Course Details
SCIP covers the key elements of the 'Common Core of Skills and Knowledge' as set out in 'Every Child Matters: Change for Children' (2004.) This training could be the starting point for the Level 2 Certificate or the Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce and is linked to the workforce area specific Induction Standards. The training has been designed to compliment your workplace inductions, and provide evidence for some of your sector specific inductions. Completion of the E-learning module prior to attending the 3 day taught sessions is essential as well as attendance and participation at 3 taught training sessions.

Progression routes
This training can be used towards the QCF Level 2 Certificate or the QCF Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce, which have replaced NVQ's in many areas of this workforce. The QCF is a national initiative for training and qualifications.
For people wishing to complete the Certificates or Diploma, in agreement with their Managers, will be invited to attend a half-day "introduction to QCF Certificates and Diploma's", information session, where the full process will be explained, detailing the requirements for the qualifications and the support that will be available to them whilst undertaking this work.
SCIL tutors delivering the training will be able to advise staff on career progression routes either directly or by sign posting them to different services.
Guidance on accessing literacy and numeracy courses for those who are interested will be available at the training.
Please Note: The programme is not intended to replace the workplace induction undertaken by the line manager. It is intended to induct practitioners into an integrated way of working within the Children and Young People's Workforce. Attendance at an appropriate Safeguarding training course must be arranged separately from this programme.
