 Who's it for?

 

Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Assistants and HLTAs in the primary sector aspiring to develop their level of skills, knowledge and responsibilities in the classroom, possibly leading to supervision or teaching a whole class. It is also for those in children's services interested in pursuing a training route ultimately leading to a career in teaching.

 

 Course Details

 

This is a taught programme, which seeks to specifically address the role of support staff in the primary sector in raising standards by supporting pupils, teachers and the school curriculum, with particular emphasis on behaviour. It will provide participants with an understanding of factors that effect behaviour, behaviour management techniques and promoting good behaviour. The approach will be to link learning with the common core of skills and knowledge and to increase knowledge of relevant supporting agencies.

 

Entry requirements: candidates should be working in a setting supporting children at primary level and committed to increasing their responsibilities and experience in the classroom or working in the children's services and interested in pursuing a career leading to teaching.

 

 

 
 

 

Cost to learner:

SCIL will support and fund applications for this training, requesting a nominal contribution from the school of £100 per candidate.
